What is endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside it, causing inflammation and pain, and in some cases difficulty getting pregnant.
What are the main symptoms?
Painful periods, chronic pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, heavy bleeding, and sometimes infertility. Symptoms vary widely and do not always match the amount of disease.
How is it diagnosed?
By history, examination and imaging (ultrasound and, when needed, MRI to map the disease). A definitive diagnosis is confirmed during surgery with pathology.
Surgery or medication — which do I need?
It depends on your case. Medication controls symptoms; surgery removes lesions and confirms the diagnosis. See our guide: endometriosis, surgery or medication.
Do you treat deep endometriosis?
Yes, including cases involving the bowel or bladder, with careful mapping and multidisciplinary coordination when needed.
Will surgery cure my endometriosis?
Excision removes visible lesions and can greatly improve pain and, in selected cases, fertility. It can recur, so the focus is control and quality of life, not a definitive cure.
Does endometriosis affect fertility?
It can. Surgery may improve the chance of pregnancy in selected cases; the plan is individual, sometimes coordinated with fertility specialists.
Can international patients start remotely?
Yes. A $50 USD online video consultation lets us review your studies and plan before you travel to Monterrey.
